Yesterday our miracle man turned 14 months old. At 14 months Lucas can now run, and is so proud that he can now walk with his hands at his side. He used to hold them up in the air for balance but now they are down and a swinging and often he puffs up his chest. I am not quite sure where he is getting that from...
'Hi' and 'dog' are two of Lucas' favorite words. I always want to remember the sweet sound of his voice saying 'hi' fifteen maybe twenty times in a row while he just smiles. In the grocery store everyone gets a 'hi' and if you don't respond it will get quite a bit louder, and if no response the second time..louder.. you get the picture, he can even get a good echo going throughout the store if there is no response from the passer byer. We think 'hi' also means please.. or don't you think I am cute... he uses it when he wants something. He also says 'dog' a lot, but not only does it actually mean dog, it means outside. He says dog whenever he wants to go outside, which is pretty much constantly. He pulls you with all of his might towards the door saying..'Hi-dog, Hi-dog.' Another thing that has begun this month is tantrums...we're working on this :).
My favorite part of Lucas being 14 months is the constant hugs and kisses. Last night I was cuddling with him as he fell asleep and as he was dozing off he would look up and say 'hi' with a sweet smile and then pucker for a kiss. When he gives kisses he says, 'muuuAAAA.' Often throughout the day as he is playing he will walk over, put his arms up to be held and grab my face and kiss my cheek and say 'muuAAA' gives me a quick hug and then wants to go play again.. by far my favorite part about 14 months.
Many of you have asked about his eyes.. thanks for remembering and thinking of him. We went to the opthamologist in June and she thinks they are getting better. She doesn't want to rush into any surgery just yet, it could be working itself out... we pray this is the case. Although some days, they are really crossed and then we can go weeks without noticing it. Weird, we just pray we can avoid surgery, but we also want what is best for Lucas.
From a cardiology standpoint we will see our doctor in July sometime. We have noticed that as Lucas has started to run, he breathes pretty loudly, he doesn't appear to be in any distress otherwise. He was a very fast crawler, but never huffed and puffed like this. It definitely doesn't slow him down at all, he never seems to need a break, but we do notice louder breathing after running around the house. I am praying that his body just needs a little catch up time to adjust to his new activity level.
Happy 14 months Lucas!
